PDRM Confirm Son of Ex-Prime Minister was Arrested for Drug Possession But Didn’t Reveal His Identity

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) arrested a Malaysian man near the Damansara toll of SPRINT Highway recently, who had drugs in his possession.

The suspect, who is in his 20s, is the son of a former Prime Minister, as confirmed by Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar.

The man who was driving raised suspicion when he was seen reversing quickly and dangerously on KM0.6 of the highway, and the police managed to stop him before he fled. Inspection of the car led to the discovery of a small amount of heroin, with other equipment believed to be used for drug abuse.

Datuk Shazeli, however, did not elaborate further after confirming the arrest that was made on Saturday (August 23), reported BERNAMA and Astro Awani.

“We have arrested him to assist with the investigation,” Datuk Shazeli said in a short statement.

The man was brought to the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division Office at the Petaling Jaya Police Station for further action. He was also said to have 2 past criminal records, both related to drug offences.

PDRM Selangor, on the other hand, have yet to release an official statement about the matter, so stay tuned as we keep you updated.
