The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has arrested a 25-year-old foreign man for raping a 71-year-old woman in Cyberjaya.

The Chief Police of the Sepang district, Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, said the police received a report from the victim at 12:18 am on Friday (September 12), and it didn’t take long for them to arrest the foreign suspect who worked at a restaurant.

The arrest was made around 12:20 pm yesterday.

PDRM also confiscated a smartphone and jewelry that the suspect robbed from the victim, who was raped at a condominium in Cyberjaya.

“The suspect will be remanded at the Sepang Magistrate’s court on Saturday (September 13),” Wan said, as reported by Astro Awani.

The case is being investigated under Sections 376/392 of the Penal Code for rape and robbery.

If found guilty, the suspect faces a maximum jail time of 14 years, with 10 strokes of the cane.

Just recently, a viral social media posting showed a screenshot of a Whatsapp conversation that informed the residents of the condominium about the rape. According to the conversation, the suspect committed the crime in the lobby of the said condominium while the victim was waiting for her elevator.
