It is truly unfortunate that our country has an abundance of snatch thieves waiting on motorcycles around corners, looking out for potential victims.

Though, Malaysians now appear to be tired of having to see their fellow community members fall victim to snatch thieves and are taking matters into their own hands.

The INFO BERITA SEMASA Facebook page recently showcased dashboard camera (dashcam) footage of the general public successfully stopping an attempted snatch robbery in Kuching, Sarawak.

Snatch Thief 1

They wrote, “2 snatch thieves were left disappointed after their attempt to rob a woman in Taman Desa Wira, Batu Kawa, was foiled by the general public. The 58-year-old victim was said to be walking alone at Lorong 11, Taman Desa Wira at around 7:54am.”

“Suddenly, the victim was approached by 2 men using a red motorcycle who tried to steal the victim’s handbag. However, the incident was seen by members of the public who were passing through the road and jumped into action to stop and detain the 2 suspects.”

Snatch Thief 2

In the dashcam footage showcased, the victim could be seen struggling against the snatch thieves by the side of the road.

The car with the dashcam then started honking their horn and swerved in an attempt to stop the snatch thieves. Another car also swerves into view to block the snatch thieves from escaping on their motorcycle.

The driver of the car blocking the snatch thieves managed to detain one of them and their motorcycle, while the other snatch thief managed to escape on foot but not without the general public pursuing him.

Snatch Thief 5 1

According to a report by Berita Harian, the second snatch thief successfully flee the scene and the police is now welcoming any information that can help to track them down.
