Nepotism is trending on Malaysian Twitter and here’s why.

It was recently announced that Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of current Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI), was appointed as an economic and financial advisor.

People have since taken to the social media platform to call out the appointment as a form of nepotism considering the fact that, even if she’s not being paid for the position, she still has the power to influence economic and financial decisions of the government.

It is also important to note that DSAI shared that his daughter is qualified to have the position due to her degrees in engineering, and public and social policy from the Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

Here’s what people had to say about that:

There are some who are also defending Nurul Izzah’s appointment as a economic and financial advisor:

What do you think about this? Should Nurul Izzah’s appointment as economic and financial advisor be considered nepotism or is she qualified for the position despite her connections and relations with her father who is the Prime Minister?

Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
