A woman acted recklessly by filing a false police report alleging that she was robbed near Taman Pandan Damai in Kuantan, to avoid paying her debts and house rent.

According to a report by Kosmo, the Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd. Zahari Wan Busu shared that, based on initial police investigations, the 57-year-old woman was believed to have filed a false report.

False Report 1

He said that the woman had previously filed the police report at the Jaya Gading Police Station at about 9:40am yesterday (Monday, May 5), claiming she was robbed by a man and a woman who were in a black car and armed with a screwdriver.

“In the report, she claimed that RM1,500 in cash and jewellery were stolen by the suspects near the Taman Pandan Damai field,”

“The results of the investigation found that no robbery had occurred, and further investigations found that the woman had filed a false report for her own benefit. She was also in her right mind when she filed the report,” he added.

A social media post

The woman’s daughter-in-law also shared a post to the Warga Kuantan OFFICIAL Facebook group, recounting the “robbery”.

False Report

She wrote, “Assalamualaikum, Taman Tas resident. Beware, my mother-in-law just got robbed by a man and a woman in a black car. My mother-in-law could not confirm what car it was. Her jewellery and money were taken. If anyone sees them pawning off gold bracelets and necklaces, please inform me. Or, if you see a suspicious car, please inform me.”

It has not been revealed if the daughter-in-law knew that the woman had faked the robbery incident or not.
