It’s no secret that there are many out there who are struggling to make a living and pay their rent.

So, when you end up delaying your rent payment due to these struggles, would you say no to someone trying to help you out by coming up with an installment arrangement?

The #UpdateInfo Twitter page recently showcased a video taken from the inside of a Malaysian woman’s rental home, as she argues with the local authorities, believed to be DBKL officers, over not being able to afford her PPR flat rental of RM124, despite the authorities being there to assist her with an installment plan.

#UpdateInfo wrote, “Is this a house rental case?”

In the video, the woman berated the local authorities for not ‘helping their own race’.

“We are Malay, why are you not helping your own race?”

She then went on to tell the officers to go after foreigners running roadside businesses instead of disturbing her over her not paying her rent.

All this time, the officers are attempting to calm her down as they want to let her know that they are, in fact, there to help her by coming up with some sort of installment plan so that she can pay off her rental debt.

“I’m having difficulties. I’m having difficulties! My husband is sick, you know?” the woman said.

“Ma’am, your rent is only RM124 a month,” the officer said but before the officer could continue, the woman interrupted with, “I know lah, but I’m having difficulties! RM124? I don’t even have RM124 in my account!”

“That’s why we are here to help. We know you are having difficulties,” another officer interjected.

“So? Help lah, Malay!” the woman replied.

The officer then informed her that they had come up with an installment plan for her, to which she yelled at the officer, “What installment?!”.

Many have since pointed out that, while they understand that she may be struggling to make ends meet, she could have spoken to the officers nicely to come up with a solution rather than yelling at them.
