If you enjoy questioning other people’s choices in the career field, you should really, really stop with this mockery.

In her TikTok post, a Malaysian named Izzaty recently shared a conversation she had with an elderly at her workplace, and we’ll tell you in advance that it was not a pleasant one. The conversation was brief but it was enough to leave a painful memory in her mind and heart.

“You must be 1 of those who didn’t study well”

Izzaty is currently working at 1 of the gas stations in Taiping, Perak, but the elderly, who was also 1 of her customers had a lot to say (and ask) about her job. After picking up his beverages, the man went to the counter and pay his drinks, where he started to converse with Izzaty.

“Have you finished your study in school?”

Izzaty did not think much about the question and thought the uncle was trying to point out that she looks young. She told the man that she had finished her study, only for him to come up with a condescending response. The man jumped to conclusions and assumed that Izzaty did not perform well academically.

“You must be 1 of those who didn’t study well,” the man told her.

Izzaty was too stunned to speak and she couldn’t react too emotionally because the uncle was her customer, but she couldn’t deny the pain she was still feeling. The uncle then continued to ask, “Why didn’t you study harder? You could’ve earned around RM5,000 to RM6,000.”

“Working in a gas station, I guess that’s around RM1,500 for you,” the uncle said before he left.

“I wanted to slap him”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Izzaty said that she did not respond to the uncle, despite his remarks which were uncalled for.

“I did feel like scolding and slapping him, but I couldn’t because he was a customer.”

Izzaty also said that when the uncle was talking and “expressing his point of view,” she tried her best to remain calm and did not express any facial expressions. You can watch and listen to what she said below.

There’s nothing wrong with your choice of career regardless of where and what it is, as long as it pays the bill because, at the end of the day, it’s the efforts that count. If you enjoy mocking others’ choices, perhaps it’s best to reflect on yourself.
