A teacher who’s committed to making sure her students are well cared for has once again gone out of her way to help one of her students at a rural primary school in Sarawak.

Taking to Threads, Cikgu Nurul (@nfsbri_) recalled the moment she was on duty at the school gate when she noticed one of her students arriving at school in a pair of badly torn trousers.

Teacher goes the extra mile for student in need

Cikgu Nurul said she felt heartbroken after seeing the student arrive at school in a pair of torn trousers, and decided to do something to help.

“This morning, while I was on duty at the school gate, I noticed a student arriving at school with a pair of torn trousers. It was heartbreaking to see the student come to school in such a state.

“I immediately looked for a spare pair of trousers at the school for the student to wear in the meantime. Later that afternoon, I went out to buy a new school uniform and pair of trousers for the student,” the post read.

She also shared that the student is currently being cared for by his mother following his parents’ separation.

Despite his circumstances, the student never asked for anything and continued coming to school and studying as usual.

“May you grow up to be a good child. Today, I bought you a new school uniform with the blessings and sustenance sent by kind-hearted donors.

“A small act of kindness can make a big difference”

Reflecting on the incident, Cikgu Nurul said she felt fortunate to have been on duty at the school gate that day, as she might otherwise never have realised that the child was going through a difficult time.

“There isn’t much I could do, but at least tomorrow, the student can come to school in more comfortable clothes. The school always tries to help, and there are also collections for students in need.

“Sometimes, they don’t come forward to ask for help or share what they’re going through. They simply come to school with whatever they have,” she wrote.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Cikgu Nurul said she hoped the incident would remind Malaysians that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference.

“Sometimes, the Almighty allows us to notice something for a reason. Perhaps it’s so we become aware of someone’s situation and are given the opportunity to help.

“We may never know just how much it means to someone. May the children who receive kindness today grow up with compassionate hearts and, one day, pass that kindness on to others.
