Malaysian students dominated the World Robot Games (WRG) 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan, by bringing home more than 80 medals from the competition that took place from Tuesday (25 November) to Monday (1 December).

According to a Facebook post by the Penang State Housing and Environment Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, the 24 students from Tamil schools and national secondary schools in Malaysia proved their extraordinary abilities by successfully bringing glory to our country on the international stage.

He wrote, “WRG is one of the largest robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) platforms in the world, bringing together over 1,000 participants from 10 countries including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.”

“Yesterday, I was at the Penang International Airport to welcome our students who returned home with very proud achievements. Each student brought home at least one medal from the category they participated in, an achievement that surpassed the previous year. Even more impressively, more than 80 medals were successfully brought home by our national team this year.”

“Dare to dream big!”

Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who is also the Chairman of the Penang Tamil Schools Special Committee, went on to share his excitement at seeing the students’ confidence and determination in pursuing fields such as robotics, global technology and innovation.

“My responsibility is to continue to strengthen the quality of Tamil education, including expanding access to STEM, robotics and technology, so that more of our children can stand on the international stage,”

“Once again, I congratulate all the students who have made Malaysia proud at WRG 2025. This success is not only a source of pride for the Tamil community but also for all Malaysians, especially the people of Penang. Hopefully, this outstanding success will inspire more Tamil students to dare to dream big and continue to make history,” he added.

The students participated in WRG 2025 under the guidance of Syscore Academy, along with the assistance of coaches and parents.
