It’s no secret that one of the biggest dangers of Malaysians roads are Mat and Minah Rempits. Not only do they endanger their own lives but other road users as well.

So, why would anyone help them escape the law?

A Malaysian man is currently under fire for advertising and selling double-sided motorcycle number plates that can be flipped around, with tiny false registration numbers on the back. This basically aids those who break the law by preventing their registration numbers from being traced and identified by law enforcement.

The man wrote, “Who is interested in the ‘highway fighter’ (basically another term for rempit) number plate trend? Contact me and we can ‘surf’ in style. The number plate can be flipped, the front is the standard number plate and if you flip it around, the numbers at the back is small.”

“Those who have to escape often can use this, if you dare you can contact me. You can customise (the back part) to put your own name so that you can ‘surf’ in style.”

He is believed to be running his business from Kuantan, Pahang.

Netizens took to the man’s post to condemn him for breaking the law by selling number plates that do not follow the Road Transport Department’s guidelines while also aiding criminal acts involving rempits and snatch thieves.

Plate 1

“The authorities, please also take action against these traders of goods that do not follow specifications. The ones who buy are big problems, the ones who sell play a role too.”

Plate 2

“Doing business, he says. Stupid. If your siblings or parents get hit and they pass away for example, a CCTV records it but this kind of number plate cannot be traced. That’s when you’ll know the importance of the sizing of standard number plates. This is an example I’m sharing, be smart and do business that brings benefits.”

Plate 3

“It’s a good thing you are openly promoting like this, it’ll make it easier for the police to do their work. You’ll quickly be caught. It’s great.”

You can watch the video here.

We do genuinely hope that the authorities take actions against these businesses as they are making it more convenient for rempits, snatch thieves and others to carry out their illegal activities and not get caught.
