While the school year is often filled with events and activities for children to take part in, one consistent affair students get to look forward to yearly is Sports Day.

But one particular clip from a sports day event has been going viral for the funniest and cutest reason. Malaysian mother Syafiqah Halid recently shared a clip of her child’s sports day on her TikTok page @syafiqah_halid.

In the video, Syafiqah can be seen recording a relay race her daughter is taking part in. All the children compete in teams, and each team wears a distinct colour block to help differentiate them from one another. Syafiqah’s daughter was part of the team wearing blue and yellow.

At the start, a few children run at full speed, hoping to be quick and pass the baton to their next relay member. However, after one child passes their baton to another girl, she merely takes a few steps before trying to pass it to Syafiqah’s daughter, who is not on the same team as her.

Dazed and confused, the child stops momentarily, unsure of what to do. Luckily, an adult standing nearby goes towards the girl and tells her to run with the baton instead. Eventually, the original teammate of Syafiqah’s daughter passes her the baton, and the video ends with the little girl sprinting vigorously to the finish line.

Thoroughly enthused by the clip, many people made light-hearted jokes about the child who took the baton and tried to pass it to Syafiqah’s daughter after taking just a few steps.

She didn’t even reach one metre and she tried to pass the baton away,” joked one user, while another stated that the kid didn’t break a sweat, but confidently tried to hand the baton to Syafiqah’s daughter.

Praising Syafiqah’s daughter, many users mentioned the fact that she ran just like Norwegian footballer Erling Haaland, who also dashes in a similar fashion.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Syafiqah stated that the event, which was held in Sabak Bernam, Perak, was a sports day organised for all preschool students in the same district, likely causing some confusion.
