Massive Fire Causes Total Destruction of 2 Popular Restaurants on Langkawi’s Jalan Pantai Cenang

A huge fire at the famous Langkawi street, Jalan Pantai Cenang, caused the destruction of 2 restaurants last night (December 8), namely Putumayo Restaurant and Palm View Seafood Restaurant.

The Media Selangor X page shared a compilation of videos from the incident.

According to a report by Kosmo, the Head of Zone 4 Langkawi Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Kedah, Fire Chief Mohd. Zamri Abd Ghani shared that his party was informed of the incident through the MERS 999 emergency line at about 8:11pm.

The Kedah Operations Center (PGO) then ordered machinery from the Padang Matsirat Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), the Persiaran Putra BBP and the Langkawi BBP to rush to the scene.

The fire was said to have started at Putumayo Restaurant before spreading to Palm View Seafood Restaurant.

“The fire was found to involve a class A building type restaurant with an estimated 100% destruction, which then spread to the adjacent restaurant with 90% destruction,”

“A Proton Saga BLM car was also affected with estimated damages of 5%, and no casualties were reported,” he explained.
