After the recent presentation of Belanjawan 2023, it’s safe to say that the people are considerably happy and satisfied with the direction the Unity Government is going in, with initiatives that champion and assist the underprivileged.

But, it looks like one Member of the House of Representatives is still unhappy, over Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s (DSAI’s) apparent lack of a mention.

Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Perikatan Nasional – PN) shared her dismay after DSAI allegedly only mentioned ‘bumiputera‘ 6 times during the Belanjawan 2023 announcements, as showcased by Astro AWANI.

“Regarding the empowerment of the bumiputera agenda, honorable ladies and gentlemen, it has become normal that every time the budget is presented, there will surely be a wait, surely we will be looking for the bumiputera agenda which is the priority of the government.”

“And if the bumiputera agenda is still the basis, fundamental of the budget or not. And throughout the presentation by the honorable Prime Minister, almost 2 and a half hours long, only 6 times was the word bumiputera mentioned,” she said during yesterday’s (February 27 – Monday) Dewan Rakyat session.

She went on to add, “This begs the question, what is happening?”

Many took to the comment section to condemn her for not having any valid points to bring up about current issues.

Bumi 1

“She has no points at all, until this thing can be an issue.”

Bumi 2

“Even if he doesn’t mention bumiputera once, still this budget is for all people including bumiputera. Things that are nothing can also become an issue.”

Bumi 3

“If the time given in the council is used to touch on trivial issues like this and not fully utilised for fundamental issues, we know at what level YB Masjid Tanah’s thinking is at. Saddening.”

Bumi 4

“How are we supposed to progress? The level of a politician to present petty things like this can still win an election. Politicians are a reflection of society. Vote for people like this and this is the results that you get, don’t know anything. Until the end, nothing will happen with real issues.”
