While love can make someone do stupid things, desperation can also drive a person to do the unimaginable. So imagine combining the two!

The Star has reported that a man in Kuantan has fallen prey to a gigolo scam and has become RM2,500 poorer.

The handyman from Kuantan only known as Choo, 37, had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and needed some quick money to get back into her good books.

With such a dilemma, the solution was clear and simple — prostitution.

With the help of his friends, Choo got in contact with a ‘male escorts’ agent’ that goes by the name Kent.

“This agent named Kent told me I could earn up to RM3,000 for three hours’ work,” Choo testified at Teruntum assemblyman, Sim Chon Siang’s office on Friday.

However, before Choo can earn all this good money, the male mama san informed Choo that he would need to pay a deposit for the processing fee of RM1,000 and finder’s fee of RM1,500 into his account. The overly eager Choo did as he was told.

He was then informed that they have found him his very first client — a 35-year old bank manager and have set up the appointment. Choo dutifully arrived at the hotel on July 3rd, at 2.45 am, but… surprise surprise, no one was there.

“I tried to contact Kent but he had blocked me. I then realised I had been cheated. I just want Kent to return my money,” Choo said.

To make matters worse, his girlfriend found out the truth and is now refusing to answer his calls. Oh, poor fella.

Sim had advised Choo to report the incident to authorities as he has just been scammed.

When checked with the Companies Commission, Kent’s bank accounts were found to be listed as a clothing and accessories shop in KL.

Sim said, “This may be a syndicate that has cheated many men.”

Police are now running investigations.
