One of the unspoken rules of Malaysian roads is that, if you need to open your vehicle door while in traffic, you should always check your side mirrors to see if there are motorcycles first.

Well, this guy obviously didn’t know that.

The 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page showcased a video of a driver opening his car door while stopped at a traffic light at USJ 1, Subang Jaya.

His action of opening the car door before checking his surroundings first caused him to hit a motorcyclist that was just passing by.

Based on the video, the motorcyclist took quite a blow and looked considerably injured from the impact.

Many have since also taken to the comment section to condemn the man for opening his door before checking his side mirrors.

Some even suggested that the man seemed more concerned over the car door than the motorcyclist that was injured.

“It doesn’t matter if you want to open your door in the middle of the road or by the side of the road. What’s most important is to check your side mirrors first, if there are vehicles or not. Once the line is clear, you can open.”

“Didn’t check the side mirror before opening the door? This driver must be the kind of people who don’t look left and right when crossing the road. What a legend.”

“The driver is more concerned with the car door’s damages, than with the motorcyclist’s injuries.”
