In preparation for Malaysia’s 68th Merdeka celebrations, the airspace around the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be closed from 8 AM to 12 PM from 26 August (Tuesday) to 31 August (Sunday).

According to a press release by Malaysia Airlines, due to this, several of their flights departing and arriving during this period will be rescheduled to accommodate the airspace closure. They also shared the new departure and arrival times for the convenience of passengers. You can check that out here.

Malaysia Airlines urges passengers to arrive early for flights to ensure they have enough time to go through the routine checks

“Passengers departing from KLIA are advised to arrive at the airport four (4) hours ahead of their rescheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in procedures and the necessary document checks at various touch-points,” the airline shared.

Do note that airspace closure may also affect flights from other airlines. Hence, anyone flying from KLIA using a different airline during this time is urged to check for rescheduling with the respective airline.
