Speaking about a foundation stone with Chinese wordings at the groundbreaking ceremony at Kedah Rubber City, Kedah State Executive Council (Exco) member and Jitra assemblyperson Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah urged the general public not to be worried about the usage of Chinese wordings.

Taking to his Facebook page, he pointed out that Bahasa Malaysia was also used during the ceremony and that we should have mutual respect for the cultures of foreign investors, all while highlighting how the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) champion the various local cultures. The Chinese words on the foundation stone read, “laying the foundation”.

Kedah Exco tells the public not to be worried about Chinese writings

He wrote, “Many political opponents tried to play up the issue of the Chinese writing on the foundation stone at the groundbreaking ceremony at Kedah Rubber City recently. The fact is, there were also Malay writings, official speeches were in Bahasa Melayu, and the Kedah and Malaysian flags were flying proudly.”

“Foreign investors come while bringing technology, job opportunities and sustenance for the people. We, as hosts, respect their identity just as they respect our multi-racial languages and cultures. PAS and PN are not static. We have never hindered progress, never restricted anyone’s right to be religious or ethnic. We defend the national identity, but at the same time open the door to billions of Ringgit in investments for the future of the people.”

“Vote for PAS”

He also took the time to encourage Sabahans to vote for PAS should they want their state to develop.

“If PAS and PN are supposedly anti-racial, how could Kedah be among the states that are fastest in attracting investment from Japan, the United States, Europe and China? How could thousands of job opportunities be created? How could foreign companies be lining up to enter?”

“If the people of Sabah want a more stable, more developed and more open future, believe me, a vote for the PAS and PN candidates is a vote for progress, stability and a better future for Sabah. We have shown proof in Kedah. In Sabah, if PN rules, please practice your respective cultures and religions. In fact, Sabah will become more developed with the abundant agricultural produce and the honesty of the leaders that PN offers,” he added.
