Local natural disasters and weather experts are warning people to brace themselves as Malaysia will continue to face natural disasters more frequently in the coming days.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Duties), Datuk Dr. Abd. Latiff Ahmad shared that he held an engagement session with a group of experts to discuss the matter.

These disasters have been predicted to also effect areas that may be considered unexpected.

“We are unlikely to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere from natural disasters in the future. If in the past, natural disasters may have happened once in a while, but now they are more frequent and also hit areas that were not likely to be effected,” he said.

For instance, he shared that no one could imagine that Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, which is thought to be a dry district, could be hit with extraordinary floods.

Abd. Latiff also informed that he has received various suggestions, feedback and the necessary improvements from the experts, to be submitted to the cabinet.

We hope that everyone prepares themselves and stays safe during these tough times.
