Taking to social media, netizens show their distaste at an event held in Merbok, Kedah, when this group of preachers interlaced Salawat for the Prophet Muhammad with a Dua Lipa song promoting adultery.

The event, which happened at Masjid Al Busyra Merbok, was likened to events commonly held in Indonesia and didn’t go down well with those attending the event, who said that there is no need to follow a practice that is wrong.

In the video, three men decided to hype up the crowd by interlacing the Salawat with Bollywood and Dua Lipa songs.

“Don’t worry, you can take out your phones and record this.”

Netizens were unimpressed.

“Please stop bringing in events that follow things that are done in Indonesia. You know that this is not right.”

“I hope that the Prime Minister, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), will look into this. Indonesian culture of besmirching the Salawat and coupling it with songs like this is giving religion a bad name.”

“This is a concert, not an event meant for our Prophet.”

With many voicing out concerns on the matter, the issue, it seems, did not go beyond the video that was posted on social media.
