Achieving three Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards and receiving an offer from Cambridge, Ho Zhengying embodies the spirit of ambition for young Malaysians.

Ho’s dream is to make a lasting positive impact on the community, and he is actively pursuing this by developing an artificial intelligence agent that provides meaningful life advice to those facing uncertainty or feeling lost.

“I have never believed success comes from effort alone and I am fortunate to have incredible people guiding and supporting me. That sense of gratitude has grown into a strong urge to give back, to create something that truly matters for others,” he shares.

Alongside Ho, 16 students from Sunway College and Sunway College Johor Bahru were honoured at the May 2025 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards held at Sunway University, collectively achieving 20 distinctions in A and AS Levels. Students from Sunway College were recognised for their exceptional accomplishments, earning accolades such as Top in Malaysia, Top in the World, Best Across Four, Best Across Three, and High Achievement.

Claire Chan Wei Sven received the Top in Malaysia award at AS Level for Literature in English and Psychology. Achieving Top in Malaysia at A Level are Phang Jun Shen in Biology, Ng Ning Wei in Chemistry, Chong Kar Mun in Economics, Wong Yan Yee in Law, and Ho Zhengying in Further Mathematics.

Ho Zhengying also received the Best Across Three award, securing First Place in Malaysia at A Level, alongside Wong Yu Xuan, who was awarded Best Across Four and First Place in Malaysia at AS Level.

In Ho’s inspirational speech delivered upon being selected by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), he advises, “Let curiosity lead your learning. It is the best fuel you can have. Grades are milestones, not definitions. They reflect your effort, not your entire worth. Success feels best when it comes from passion, not pressure.”

Extending the streak of excellence, the High Achievement accolades were earned by Julius Lee Jun Tao in History at AS Level, Humaira Nur Taqiah Binti Shafril in History at A Level, and Lee Francesca in Literature in English at A Level.

Students winning Top in World at AS Level include Oo Sin Rou in Accounting, Ngei Xin Yan in Further Mathematics, Wong Yu Xuan in Mathematics, Elyssa Ayu Binti Yuhasnor Affandy and James Low Jie Wei in Thinking Skills, while Top in World at A Level in Mathematics are won by Ho Zhengying and Khor Choong Ming, as well as Tan Zi Heng from Sunway College Johor Bahru.

Sunway College continues to lead as the nation’s top Cambridge provider, marking its 11th consecutive year with the highest number of Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.

Ruth Cheah, Sunway College Cambridge GCE A-Level Director of Programme, remarked on the accomplishment, stating “Success is a partnership. The dedicated lecturers and driven students at Sunway College together create the perfect formula for achievement. It is an honour to be recognised as the nation’s best-performing Cambridge provider.”
