What’s wrong with the human race and the abuse of helpless, innocent animals these days? Recently, a loyal dog was abandoned and left to die a slow, excruciating death by her owner in Yakutsk, Russia on one of the coldest days of the year.

Based on reports by Siberian Times, the one-year-old female dog was found frozen to the floor of her outside kennel, in ice-cold temperatures of -32°C. In a heartbreaking video, the white pooch was found when neighbours passing by saw it whimpering on the floor, almost frozen solid. Imagine the pain and suffering she had to endure!

However, the poor animal was still alive and one of her paws was free. She had her eyes open, which was full of pain and fear while she whimpered softly as rescuers tried to free her from her icy prison. Local animal activist volunteers who managed to get her free quickly rushed her to the vet as she was suffering from hypothermia.

Unfortunately, the vet said that it was too late to save her and that he had no choice but to euthanise her to put the dog out of her misery. The appalling cruelty of the dog’s owner who just abandoned her to an icy death by pouring cold water on her shocked the residents. Truly heartbreaking!

One of the volunteers said,

“The eyes, I will never forget them. Did you ever see a man who wanted to live but who was already dying? The dog had exactly the same eyes, understanding everything, just unable to explain.”

Apparently, the man who did this cruel act to his pet had a few children of his own and the animal activists quickly started a petition for the authorities to take action against the heartless man. Who’s the animal now?

“It’s one thing when your dog dies, but this man has many children. Today he lets his dog die next to his house, and tomorrow the same may happen to his children,” a volunteer added.

The petition has since received 10,000 signatures and was submitted to the authorities. Local MP in Moscow, Sergey Boyarsky said he would take up the case to prosecute the owner.
