The atmosphere at Bandar Baru Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, was tense yesterday afternoon (July 17, Monday) after a suspicious bag was left at a business area.

However, after further investigations by the police, they found that the luggage apparently only contained clothing and not a bomb.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the Nilai District Deputy Chief of Police, Deputy Superintendent Mat Ghani Lateh shared that his party received a call at about 1pm, where a woman had informed them of a suspicious bag left at the location.

“Police officers on duty were directed to the location to carry out an investigation. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Bomb Disposal Unit was called to assist in the investigation of the incident,”

“The bag that was left behind was destroyed according to existing standard operating procedures (SOP) and the results of the inspection found that the bag only contained clothes,” he explained.

He added that no bomb was found in the bag and it is believed to have been left behind by a public transport passenger as the location was an express bus transit center for the Nilai area.

“Therefore, the public is advised not to make any speculations that can cause annoyance.”
