A woman’s story has recently come to light after she claimed she was treated poorly by her manager when she informed her team that she would be taking medical leave (MC).
Nina (pseudonym) reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ and recalled informing her colleagues in a WhatsApp group that she had to take emergency medical leave, only to receive a response from her manager that left her shocked.

Malaysian woman scolded for taking MC
Nina added that the incident happened on 14 July and involved a newly appointed cluster manager, who aggressively questioned her for taking emergency leave at short notice.
Sharing screenshots of their conversation, Nina said the manager was sceptical about her medical emergency and insisted that she report to work, open the store, and wait for a replacement to arrive.
“What health issues are you facing? Go open the store and wait for one replacement. I know these games very well. Next time, go work selling newspapers if you want to take MC. Don’t work in retail,” the manager said.

Meanwhile, Nina also shared a photo of herself in the hospital along with the official MC issued by the hospital.
“How would you guys handle this situation? Imagine updating your work group to say that you’re unwell, only for the new cluster manager to treat staff this way,” she wrote.

Seeking advice from the public
Nina has since turned to the public for advice on how to handle the situation, claiming that this was not the first time she had experienced verbal attacks from the manager.
“I went to the Klang Labour Office to complain with all the evidence, but they said it was an internal matter and they couldn’t do anything. I need to email a report to my director. When the manager called me ‘bloody dumb’, four bosses were in the group, but none of them said anything. It made me even more stressed. Even on my off days, he would call and disturb me without even sending a courtesy message to ask if I was available to talk,” she added.
