Despite facing one challenge after another, students of SPM 2020 proved that they managed to ace their exams! Who would have thought that students taking one of the biggest examinations during a pandemic would have the best national average grade?

Nonetheless, these students have proved the nation otherwise.

Achieving 4.80 as the national average grade (GPN) compared to 4.86 in 2019, SPM 2020 has set the highest record since 2016, said Education Minister, Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin when announcing the results for SPM 2020 this morning (10 June).

“A smaller GPN value indicates a better candidate performance and the GPN trend from 2016 to 2020 shows that 2020 is the best record in five years,” he added.

BERNAMA reported that the achievements in 2019 were 4.86. In previous years, the GPN was 4.89 in 2018, 4.90, and 5.05 in 2017 and 2016, respectively.

A total of 401,105 candidates registered in 2020 with a total of 381,894 candidates sitting for SPM 2020 which took place in two sessions on 22 February to 25 March and 6 April to 23 April for 83 subjects at 3,310 examination centres, reported Berita Harian.
