Yesterday (13 July), Malaysian citizens were stunned when the country recorded over 11,000 Covid-19 cases for the first time. While many were heartbroken over the rising cases, more disheartening news was released by the Federal Territory Religious Department (JAWI).

They took to their Facebook page to share the youngest Covid-19 fatality reported on Monday (12 July) since the pandemic hit the country last year.

8-month-old baby boy is the youngest Covid-19 fatality

The caption read:

“The silence that greeted us on Monday night broke our hearts. We received the remains of the youngest Covid-19 victim, a 38-week-old baby boy, for the first time at the Raudhatul Sakinah Islamic Cemetery KL-Karak, Taman Selaseh.”

The poor baby only made it to 38 weeks of living (8 months). “May all family members be blessed with strength. If God is willing, this little boy is now waiting for his parents in heaven,” they added.

Mother still in critical condition at ICU

What’s even more saddening is the revelation that his mother is still in critical condition at the intensive care unit (ICU) while the baby’s father and other eight siblings are quarantined at home.

In the comments section, netizens expressed their condolences and prayers over this heartbreaking post.
