Though many don’t seem worried about the Covid-19 virus by not wearing their masks and ignoring other standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the authorities, there are patients who are scared beyond belief.

One patient, sadly, even took her own life.

As according to Harian Metro, a woman who was admitted to the Hospital Queen Elizabeth I (HQE I) for testing positive with the Covid-19 virus is believed to have jumped to her death from the eighth floor of the hospital.

The incident, which happened at 9:15pm last night (21 October), was reported to the Kota Kinabalu district chief of police, Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji at 9:30pm.

The 63-year-old patient was said to have been admitted to the hospital on 13 October after she tested positive for the Covid-19 virus and is said to have jumped from a window on the eighth floor.

Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji said that after further treatment, the patient was cured of the virus and was scheduled to be discharged today (22 October).

“The victim’s body has been placed at HQE I’s Forensic Department while waiting for investigations to find out the cause of the victim’s suicide. Police officers are currently conducting investigations into what caused the victim to jump and are looking for witnesses who were at the scene,” he shared.

He added that the case is currently classified as a sudden death and the general public is asked to step forward should they have any information regarding the victim that can help with investigations.

Our sincerest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.
