Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Malaysia joyfully announced that the required amount of RM800,000 has been fully raised, thanks to overwhelming donations from the general public.

The welfare home shared, “The management committee extends its deepest gratitude to all donors, well-wishers, volunteers, media partners, influencers, and members of the public who supported this cause—whether through financial contributions, sharing information, or keeping the home in their prayers.

“Every act of support, seen and unseen, played a meaningful role in bringing this effort to completion.”

The organisation will now proceed with the necessary legal steps to purchase the property, ensuring a permanent and secure sanctuary for the underprivileged girls under their care.

A race against time

A welfare home for underprivileged girls in Rawang is seeking public support to raise funds to secure its residence permanently and ensure that it can continue to support and care for its residents.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, a representative for Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Malaysia explained that the welfare home, which occupies 2 houses in Taman Sri Hijau, Rawang, currently shelters 54 underprivileged girls who would otherwise be at risk of displacement.

They rent both houses at RM1,200 and RM1,000, respectively. However, one of the house owners decided to sell as they plan to migrate overseas.

In order to continue housing the girls, they require RM400,000 to purchase the property. The home initially needed RM800,000 to purchase the property from its owner, but has managed to raise RM400,000 thanks to public support.

The remaining RM400,000 needed will go into completing the purchase of the property, thereby preventing eviction or the forced relocation of the home and the girls under their care.

It will also ensure long-term housing stability, safety and continued care of the girls as the home provides education support, daily meals, counselling, and a stable and safe living environment for the residents.

They don’t have much time

Unfortunately, the situation is time-sensitive as they have a deadline of 31 January to secure the property from its owner.

“Failure to meet this deadline may result in the home being lost, which would directly impact the residents’ shelter and well-being.”

“Over the past 27 years, Sri Saradha Devi Illam has supported and raised more than 500 girls, helping them complete their education and move into independent lives. Securing this home ensures the continuity of this work, not only for the current 54 girls but for many more in the future,” the representative explained.

Transparency is key

They wrote, “We would like to respectfully clarify that this fundraising effort is genuine, transparent and solely intended for the welfare and well-being of all our children and residents under our care. We understand the importance of public trust and welcome all verifications.”
