According to a report by the Sungai Buloh District Police, 2 teenage boys died in a motorcycle crash at Jalan Elmina Business Park, Selangor. They were both doing wheelies at about 11:20pm on Wednesday (August 14) when they collided with each other head-on.

“As a result of this incident, both riders involved, who were around 13 years old, died at the scene,” Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor shared.

The police are also investigating if there were other motorcyclists present at the scene when the incident happened.

Parents, pay more attention!

Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor also explained that the statistics of fatal accidents due to racing activities in Sungai Buloh have increased drastically this year.

So far, 11 motorcyclists have died as a result of racing activities from January to August of this year. This is a stark difference from the 3 reported dead during the same period last year.

Due to this, he urged parents to pay more attention to their children’s activities, especially at night.

“This increase is very worrying. Therefore, parents and guardians must be sensitive and careful in controlling their children’s activities. Especially minors, especially at night so that they don’t get involved in any illegal racing activities that can threaten and take their lives and endanger other road users,” he said.

He also added that underaged motorcyclists and their parents can be accused under Section 39 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which is the offence of underage driving and allowing those without a license to operate a vehicle.
