An 11-month-old baby girl died after falling from a window on the third floor of a PPR in Petaling Jaya a few days ago.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the incident occurred on 2 May at around 3pm when the baby was playing on the bed with her brother, sister and cousin, next to the window in the room of an apartment in Block D, Sri Aman People’s Housing Project (PPR), Jalan Putra.

Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said, they received a report at about 6pm on 2 May regarding the incident and the initial investigation found that the bed was situated close to the window.

He said the inspection found that the window in the room did not have a fence and the bed was placed at the centre of the window without any obstruction.

“Following that, the victim’s mother took the baby to Selayang Hospital for treatment but the young child was confirmed dead by a medical officer.

The autopsy found that the victim’s death was due to severe head injuries caused by falling from a high place,” Eng Lai said.

According to Eng Lai, further investigation found no criminal element in the incident, and the case was classified as sudden death (SDR).

He urged members of the public who have any information related to this case to contact the Sentul IPD Operations Room at 03-4048 2206, Kuala Lumpur Police at 03-2115 9999, or any nearby police station.
