Underarm odour can be unpleasant, and a soon-to-be bride in China recently had to pay a price (literally) for her body odour.
The woman from Shandong ranted on her Xiao Hong Shu (RED) post @momo王👑 and highlighted, “I didn’t expect a bridal shop would extort customers because of underarm odour.” So, here’s what happened.
The woman, known as Momo visited a bridal shop with her boyfriend and tried on 2 different wedding gowns.
She didn’t like the 1st one, so she handed it back to the employee who attended to her. Momo noticed the employee wasn’t really happy after receiving the 1st wedding gown, but she shrugged it off and continued to try on the 2nd wedding gown.
“I still didn’t like the 2nd wedding gown, and the place (2nd floor) didn’t have an aircond, so I decided to leave.”
Just when Momo and her boyfriend were preparing to leave after returning the 2nd wedding gown, they were stopped by the employees.
The latter wanted compensation from the couple because the 1st wedding gown had some armpit odour.
“They asked me to purchase the wedding gown. I was baffled. Did I have to pay just for trying the outfit?”
Momo’s partner got into an argument with the employees, and one of them contacted the manager of the store, who walked into the store 10 minutes later. After talking to the employees, the manager approached the couple and told them about the body odour.
The situation then got a little awkward for Momo, who then admitted that she could smell her body odour but in her defence, the place was hot.
“They didn’t have aircond on the 2nd floor, and I was sweating when I put on the gown. I honestly don’t think I should be held responsible for that.”
For the sake of not prolonging the argument, Momo had no choice but to pay RMB2,000 (approximately RM1,223) for the wedding gown she didn’t want– a price she had to pay for her body odour.
