To those who are excited to use the LRT3’s train facilities, you might have to wait a little longer.

Just yesterday (July 29), Anthony Loke announced that the LRT3 line, which is currently under construction will be fully operational in the 3rd quarter of 2025. The physical works, however, are already about 96% completed, according to the announcement via Anthony’s Facebook page.

LRT3 was previously set to operate on 1st March 2025.

Given the near completion, why the delay?

“The project is experiencing delays from the original schedule due to setbacks during the Covid-19 period,” Anthony said during the press conference at LRT Pasar Jawa in Klang.

Regardless, Anthony assured the public that the contractors are working around the clock to make up for it. The setbacks, however, are not the only cause of delay.

Anthony told the media that the physical works are expected to be done by October this year, with system integration & testing to follow until early 2025.

“After the system integration, we will then enter the testing phase which can take up to 4 months.”

In case you are not aware, LRT3 will run from Klang to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, and is expected to benefit over 2 million users.

Anthony also said that 5 stations that were previously cancelled will be reinstated, with over 150 feeder electric buses and the construction of three bus depots. The stations that have been reinstated are as below,

  • Temasya
  • Tropicana
  • Bukit Raja
  • Raja Muda
  • Bandar Botanik

“Reinstating these 5 stations is expected to cost RM3.8 billion. The additional work is expected to take around 2 years but it will not interfere with LRT3’s opening and its daily operations.” Anthony added.

The additional works include the restoration of the project scope, infrastructure, and system costs, including contractors, rolling stock purchases, electronic buses, and bus depot construction.

Are you excited to use the LRT3 line after its completion? This is good news, especially for the users in Klang and Shah Alam who can travel to PJ and Bandar Utama without interchange stations.
