A video of a cat in China getting teary-eyed went viral globally during the first few days of the Lunar New Year.

The owner of this 2-year-old British Shorthair named Fufu is Miss Meng who lives in Xuzhou, China. As it was nearing Chinese New Year, she had gone back to her hometown to celebrate with her parents. Initially, she wanted to bring Fufu along with her but she decided not to for the fear that she would be distressed in a strange place. She had made sure to leave sufficient food and water for the feline.

On the night of 8 February, Miss Meng decided to check up on Fufu using her phone which is linked to the surveillance camera that she installed in her home. When she talked to Fufu through the camera, Fufu appeared to have tears in their eyes while yowling. Miss Meng then posted the video on DouYin and the clip went viral instantly.

Miss Meng told Mail Online,

“I felt heartbroken when I saw this.”

She then cut her trip short and was greeted enthusiastically by Fufu when she got home a few days later.

The MSPCA has said that cats crying could be signs of an underlying medical condition, however, cats can also cry if they experience loneliness, needs attention, are stressed, or if want food. Miss Meng has said that Fufu is perfectly healthy.

We’re happy that Fufu is finally reunited with Miss Meng! Be it as it may, loneliness is not a good emotion to feel, so if you are going away, make sure to have someone you trust come in regularly to play with your pets!
