A Pakistani refugee has been struggling to pay rent and utilities after not being able to find work during the pandemic lockdown. Desperate for aid, he reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ for help.

Redan Safdar said he and his family have been living in Malaysia as refugees since January 2017. He added that he is not allowed to work legally and has to find jobs with the risk of being threatened or caught.

He currently lives at Perdana Villa, Taman Sentosa, Klang and has to support his wife and two daughters, aged four years old and five months old.

He said his youngest daughter is suffering from several conditions, namely Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and had spinal surgery two days after she was born. She now has to go for follow up appointments at the Women & Children Hospital Kuala Lumpur three times a month which can cost between RM800 to RM1,000.

Redan also said that his daughter is unable to urinate by herself and needs to do Clean Intermittent Catheterisation (CIC) every six hours using special equipment.

“As a refugee, I am not allowed to work legally in Malaysia, but to feed my family, I have to work,” he told WORLD OF BUZZ.

“Since 1 June 2021, I have had no work at all, so I need help in monetary terms to pay rent and utility bills as well as for basic needs.”

Redan added that he needs about RM600 per month for rent and about RM50 for his water and electricity bills.

Although the people in his community are providing help for his youngest daughter, he said he is not getting any help for his rent and utility bills and for basic necessities.

If you are in any position to help Redan and his family, you may contact him at 011-2825 1260 to discuss further. Or if you are in the Taman Sentosa, Klang area, do contact him to see how you can be of help.

Redan does not have a bank account as he is unable to open an account as a refugee in Malaysia.

He also has a MerchanTrade card registered under his wife’s name and number. You can transfer funds via the number 01162103371 under the name Reema Jamil.
