During the Parliamentary session yesterday (1 December), Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin was accused of flashing the middle finger twice at the Opposition bloc after he failed to give an answer to Muar MP Syed Saddiq who raised a question during Willie’s speech.

Following this, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun did not make a ruling on the matter and called for the MPs who are unhappy with Willie’s alleged actions to file a motion with the Parliament committee.

Azhar added that he was unable to make a ruling as he wasn’t sure what happened and mentioned that he had a “sight problem” he is facing at the moment.

“Actually, I did not make a ruling (yesterday) because I was not sure what had happened,” he said, reported Sinar Harian.

“Honestly, I didn’t see it. I have a sight problem this week.”

Here’s a video clip of the incident:

The Speaker then said that he listened to Willie’s explanation where Willie denied doing such a thing. He added that even after watching the video of the incident and watching it in slow motion, he still could not verify if Willie had in fact used the middle finger or not.

He then told MPs who are unhappy with the alleged incident to file a motion with the Parliament committee, before whom the deputy minister can then defend himself.

“I wholeheartedly cannot verify if the incident took place and also there are a lot of conflicting facts from both sides. So how do you want me to make a ruling?” he said.

“So that’s my decision.”

During the same parliamentary session, Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman called Syed Saddiq “budak” and repeatedly told him to sit down.
