In a time and age where food is available 24 hours, it is so easy to satisfy our hunger anytime. But sometimes, we crave for certain foods that just so happened to be unavailable at night.
For a 16-year-old boy from Higashi Osaka City, Japan, he was particularly craving for curry in the wee hours of January 2, 2017, Rocketnews24 reported.
However, the particular restaurant he went wasn’t open. He was so famished and disappointed that he decided to… burn it down.
Initially, when the fires first broke out that day, authorities were dumbfounded as they couldn’t find the culprit nor could they figure out why someone would randomly set fire to things like that.
Maybe he thought he was Adele?
She sets fires to the rain after all.
On March 7, 2017, the police finally arrested the teenager who works part time in the area.
The suspect had started 4 fires in total that night. First fire was a street side banner at a car dealership. Then, 10 minutes later, a restaurant’s storehouse located 200 meters from the dealership was also up in flames.
After that, two more fires were reported at apartment complexes close to the first two scenes. Apparently, a bicycle and garbage were set on fire too.
Thankfully no one was injured in all these flames. Security cameras also caught a young man who looked much like the suspected teenager doing the deed.
The teenager explained that he was ‘hangry’. You know, when you’re so hungry you become angry…
“I went to eat some curry, but the restaurant was closed. I got angry and used my lighter to start a fire.“
Netizens were more amused than appalled by this youngster’s actions. Many were laughing and joking away at the story.
Meanwhile, one netizen pointed out that curry is a very serious thing in Japan. He wrote,
“If you play, read or watch Japanese media long enough, you will know that for some people curry is a real serious business.”
Indeed, even us Malaysians can empathise with this young man. Who wouldn’t be upset when you’re craving for your favourite foods in the middle of the night but the restaurant is closed?
But of course, don’t start destroying properties lah… McDonald’s is open 24-hours, 365 days anyways.
