Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil during a press conference in Putrajaya today announced a special RAHMAH incentive rebate in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, involving the provision of at least 5GB of additional Internet data for all Malaysians.
Fahmi was quoted by BERNAMA as saying that the initiative is his Ministry’s effort, with the strategic cooperation of telecommunications service providers. Moreover, it’s in line with the objectives of the MADANI Government which emphasises the well-being of the rakyat and strengthening relationships online communication with the Hari Raya Adilfitri celebrations.
All Malaysians to get at least 5GB of free Internet data on the first day of Aidilftri

Accordingly, the Communications Ministry in a statement, provided more details about the incentive, saying that it involves the provision of a minimum of 5GB additional data for all Malaysian prepaid and postpaid users on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
It added that the additional quota would last for a minimum of 24 hours and is subject to the terms and conditions offered by participating telecommunications service providers, namely CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM Tech, YTL Communications, Pavo Comms, Tune Talk, redONE, REDtone and XOX Com.
The Communications Ministry said that further information will be announced by each telecommunications service provider and that Malaysians can refer to the frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the initiative here.
Besides that, Fahmi Fadzil during the press conference elaborated that the incentive is not a subsidy by the government as it is fully borne by the telecommunications service providers.
