Trigger warning: This article involves mentions of suicide which some readers may find disturbing.

Being a single mother is hard, especially when you’re underprivileged and don’t have the help that you need. Sadly,  that can sometimes lead to suicidal thoughts.

Thankfully, Ustaz Ebit Lew stepped in at the right time, as a single mother staying in Puchong with five children had been thinking about death through her hardships.

The kind Ustaz took to his Facebook page to showcase the mother’s struggles and how he had helped.

He wrote, “I’ve read for two days about the struggles and challenges Teresa Santa, of Iban descent, in Puchong has been facing. Bringing up five children who are still schooling after being left by her husband for three years. When I entered Ms Teresa’s house, she cried.”

“Have I died, Ustaz? Have I died? I’ve always thought of just dying. I’ve thought about it multiple times,” the poor single mother had told him.

Ustaz Ebit had found out that she had not paid rent for her house in 15 months, and the same goes for her water and electricity bills.

“I paid it all off for her. I called the owner of the house to bear the cost of her rental until she is able to be independent again.”

Though, even the house she was staying in couldn’t be considered a home as it was empty.

“When I reached, it was sad to see that the house was empty. There were just old mattresses. No other furniture. I gifted her a fridge, washing machine and a laptop for the children to learn. Study hard, kids. I hope you become grow to become individuals that can help others,” he explained.

Ustaz Ebit also added that there have been kind people who have helped this family by giving them food and money to spend, but now, with his help, the single mother will be able to find her footing in the world.

We’re truly happy that she received the help she needed and genuinely hope that she stays strong throughout her journey with her children.
