In an official statement by the General Manager of the sanctuary, Anak Agung Ngurah Bagus Bhaskara said the tree collapsed due to a sudden gust of strong wind.

“We would like to express our condolences to the victims and their families. Our team acted promptly to provide first aid on-site and to offer intensive supports to the victims.”

Anak Agung also said that the management of the sanctuary had communicated with the respective embassies and medical personnel to ensure optimal care for all victims.

In the aftermath of the accident, Anak Agung said the place is closed for 2 days – December 11 and 12, and reminded all visitors to be vigilant and avoid entering the area during rainy weather.

Our thoughts and condolences go to the family members of the victims.
