We use WhatsApp for many purposes like casual chit-chats, keeping in touch with long lost relatives and of course, to jio your friends for an outing. Whether you like it or not, WhatsApp has become part and parcel of our daily communication. If you are a frequent user of WhatsApp then you would surely have met these types of people before in the chatting app!
1. The one who blue ticks you
You know what we mean, that dreaded double blue tick and then no reply for ages. But don’t blame them though, sometimes they are just too busy
or are they? until they forgot to reply to your message, and at other times your messages might have caught them off guard until they don’t know how to continue with the conversation.
2. Those who never read the chats
So many messages, so little time. Time is precious and they are busy people. Besides, some of those WhatsApp groups are simply spamming and they just can’t be bothered to keep up. Be grateful if they eventually reply to your message even if it’s a few days later. It means they still treat you as their friend!
3. Those who always send “flowery” greetings
Selamat pagi! There are always some aunties and uncles who always send some cheery images with a motivating quote to wish you a good morning or even just some festive greetings in your chats. Sometimes it’s heartwarming, but most of the time it can be a waste of phone memory.
4. The news reporter
Some of your kepoh ‘aunties and uncles’ are just very eager to update everyone with the latest news in case we somehow miss out on the latest happenings. Surprisingly, they can even be more efficient than news outlets sometimes!
5. FAKE news reporter
When there’s news, there will be FAKE news too. They just see it, get triggered, and then viral it EVERYWHERE. But please, don’t spread false information ya, just a simple fact-check online and the truth will be revealed!
6. The “long-lost buddy”
After many years of not talking to each other, they suddenly approach you. At first, they are all chatty and pretend to be really interested in your life and then they suddenly jio you out to yum cha. But when you actually meet them, the conversation goes like this:
“How much do you earn? So little ah? Do you want to be rich? Have you heard of… XX company?”
7. The dreaded ‘K’ people
So, let us get this straight. It’s fine to reply with “Ok,” “Okay,” “Noted,” “Thanks” or similar variations but somehow, the “K” just feels a little too abrupt. However, it works really well in killing a conversation so you can use it if you’re feeling annoyed at someone!
8. Emojis all day, err day
We get that an emoji speaks a thousand words but sometimes, it can be too much especially if you only use emojis to communicate. What happened to good ol’ words?
9. The Grammar Nazi
It’s normal to use textspeak when you’re messaging on WhatsApp because we’re all busy people and short forms are so much easier. However, if you meet a Grammar Nazi then you better be careful or they’ll keep correcting you!
10. The essay writer
Okay, we know you are an eloquent speaker but perhaps you should save it for a face-to-face meetup instead of spilling your guts out in a WhatsApp message? Plus, it’s more sincere!
11. The stealthy one
You know the ones we mean, they turn off all their read receipts, last seen and there’s probably not even a profile picture on their WhatsApp. It’s like they are on ninja mode!
So, how many of these people have you encountered before in your WhatsApp chats?
